Minister Lauds IREDA’s Green Financing

New Delhi: Union Minister Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy, Shri Pralhad Joshi has commended the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) for its pivotal role and exceptional performance in financing India’s green energy transition.

Union Minister Shri Joshi, in an interview with Z BHARAT, lauded the efforts of IREDA in supporting the nation’s energy transition goals. The commendation comes amid IREDA’s sterling financial performance and expansive role in financing the Green Energy Sector.

In a clear expression of confidence and pride, Shri Pralhad Joshi, who has often acknowledged IREDA’s robust performance, has made statements that align with the sentiment: “I am proud of IREDA. IREDA is financing Green Power liberally. I am very proud of IREDA.”

The Union Minister’s praise underscores the importance of IREDA’s mandate and its liberal approach to funding projects across the renewable energy sector.

Shri Joshi’s remarks typically follow the announcement of IREDA’s strong financial results, which consistently show high growth in its loan book, sanctions, and disbursements for green projects.

The phrase “financing Green Power liberally” highlights IREDA’s role as the nation’s largest pure-play green financing NBFC, extending support to a wide range of technologies, including Solar and Wind Energy, Hydro and Bio-Energy and New and Emerging Technologies like Green Hydrogen, Ethanol, and Compressed Bio-Gas (CBG).

The Union Minister’s endorsement reinforces the government’s strong commitment to achieving its ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, with IREDA serving as a key financial enabler.

The Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) is making effective strides towards the promotion of Renewable Energy by extending financial assistance for Energy Efficiency and Conservation Projects.

The institution also presents a strong investment opportunity, being the only financial institution funding green projects so liberally across India.

This high-level praise acknowledges IREDA’s dedicated work in supporting projects that drive self-reliance and sustainability, illuminating India’s path towards a greener future.

Following this recognition, IREDA CMD Shri Pradip Das expressed gratefulness for the “kind support” of the Union Minister to IREDA. This mutual acknowledgment solidifies the institution’s mandate and the government’s commitment to accelerating the green energy transition through robust financial mechanisms.
