New Delhi: Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) today convened a crucial stakeholder meeting, chaired by the MNRE Secretary, Shri Santosh Kumar Sarangi, to gather strategic input for the National Renewable Energy Mission. The Mission is designed as a foundational pillar for India’s clean energy future and a significant driver of growth toward the ambitious goal of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The meeting focused on four key areas essential for accelerating the clean energy transition: grid integration, finance, innovation, and manufacturing. Industry leaders and stakeholders provided their perspectives and recommendations across these domains to help shape the national roadmap for renewable energy.
The discussions underscored the necessity of robust grid modernization and smart technologies for seamlessly integrating the increasing amounts of renewable energy capacity. On the finance front, the emphasis was on developing innovative green financing models to unlock capital for large-scale projects and distributed renewable energy solutions, a point recently highlighted by Secretary MNRE, Shri Sarangi.
Innovation and domestic manufacturing were also major themes, with a focus on scaling up the production of solar modules, cells, and other critical components under schemes like the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. This push is seen as vital for ensuring energy security and building a self-reliant (Aatmanirbhar) renewable energy ecosystem.
This latest consultation follows a recent national workshop where Secretary MNRE, Shri Sarangi had encouraged states to develop skilling ecosystems and innovative financing for Distributed Renewable Energy (DRE), which he noted creates significant job opportunities in rural areas.
The collective inputs from today’s meeting are expected to be instrumental in formulating the next phase of India’s renewable energy strategy to ensure the country achieves its goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity well before the 2030 target and secures a clean, prosperous future by 2047.
