Bhubaneswar: The capital city is prepared to handle any kind of problem arising out of the surge in Covid-19 cases, asserted Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary on Monday.
In view of the Covid-19 situation, the BMC has been increasing the number of beds at hospitals in a phased manner. Presently, there are sufficient beds under different categories, said Chaudhary.
Allaying the doubts that the closure of Swargadwar in Puri will increase the burden in Bhubaneswar, Chaudhary said that the crematorium at Satyanagar is fully functional and two more crematoriums will soon be set up in the city.
He further informed that the strength of the 1929 Helpline has been increased. Some apartments where Covid-19 cases have increased were sealed, the BMC has started slum surveillance and conducting tests of symptomatic persons.
