New Delhi: A State Review Meeting on Renewable Energy was held today at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, bringing together senior officials from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and various states to review progress and formulate strategies for the future.

In his opening remarks, Shri Santosh Sarangi, Secretary, MNRE, underscored India’s impressive progress in the renewable energy sector. He highlighted the critical role of states in the on-ground implementation of projects and emphasized the need for a collective and concerted effort to achieve the nation’s ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel-based energy capacity by 2030.

The meeting focused on a state-wise assessment of flagship schemes like the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana and PM-KUSUM. Deliberations also included discussions with industry associations to address current issues and stakeholder consultations on the design and implementation of future policies, such as PM-KUSUM 2.0.

The meeting reaffirmed the government’s commitment to boosting the domestic renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem, with a specific focus on achieving indigenous solar cell manufacturing by 2028. State representatives were urged to expedite Renewable Purchase Obligations (RPOs), power purchase agreements (PPAs), and land allotments to ensure timely execution of projects and strengthen investor confidence.
