Bhubaneswar: Relief for air travelers as the temporary closure of 32 airports across the country for civil aircraft operations has been lifted with immediate effect. The restrictions, which were in place until 05:29 hrs on May 15, 2025, have been terminated earlier than anticipated.
This development means that these 32 airports are now fully operational for all civilian flights. The earlier closure had caused some disruptions and schedule adjustments for airlines and passengers.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) and relevant aviation authorities have issued a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) announcing the temporary closure of 32 airports across northern and western India for all civil flight operations, effective from 9th to 14th May 2025 (which corresponds to 0529 IST on 15th May 2025), due to operational reasons.
Passengers who were affected by the temporary shutdown are advised to directly check their flight status with the respective airlines. Additionally, travelers are encouraged to monitor airline websites and official social media channels for the latest updates on schedules and any potential changes.
The resumption of operations at these 32 airports is expected to ease travel disruptions and allow for smoother air traffic flow across the nation.
