Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today lauded Mohan Charan Majhi-led State government for taking a lot of measures for the development of different sectors including education, health, sports, and women empowerment.

After the formation of a double-engine government, the pace of development accelerated in the State. Work has been started on infrastructure projects worth thousands of crores of rupees, the Prime Minister said while addressing a huge gathering here at the airport this evening.

The State Government has launched several schemes and the people have started ripping benefits of the schemes, he said.

Modern facilities are being added in different cities of the state and the BJP government is focusing on developing the Startup ecosystem, Shri Modi said, adding, Odisha is being prepared as a new investment destination in the world though Utkarsh Odisha Conclave.

After coming to power, the BJP Government has implemented National Education Policy, PM Shree and PM-Usha schemes in the State, he pointed out.

The Prime Minister said that the BJP government has also started fulfilling promises made during the election. The state government has launched Subhadra Yojana, which will be a symbol of women empowerment.

Under the scheme, the Government promised to provide Rs 50000 to one crore women in five years. 

Similarly, the Government has started procuring paddy at a price of Rs 3100 per quintal, as promised before the election, he added.

The Chief Minister is meeting people, inquiring about their problems and staying in villages, which people of Odisha have never seen before, the PM said.  

Stating that the BJP government at Centre is giving priority to Odisha and its pride, Shri Modi said the central budgetary allocation to Odisha has been enhanced by three times. The representation of Odisha in the cabinet is unprecedented.  

Though the annual DGP conference has been organized for more than 100 years, it is bring organized in Odisha for the first time. Indian Navy’s Demo-2024 will be organized in Odisha’s Puri Blue Flag beach on December 4, he pointed out.

Besides, Pravasi Bharatiya Divas will also be celebrated in Odisha in January, which will boost tourism in the state. We want to give priority to Odisha not only in the country but also across the globe, the Prime Minister stated.

“When we didn’t have a government in the state, the names of our schemes were being changed. Still, we worked for the development of Odisha. The central government had never thought about whether our government was in the State or not. We were only trying to serve Odisha. New schemes were launched. The Odisha people understood our principles and working style and started believing in us. They blessed us with open hearts,” he added.

Till some months before the elections, experts were rejecting BJP. They were saying the BJP cannot form a government on its own. But when the results came, they were stunned, Shri Modi further said.
