Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary SSEPD, Bishnupada Sethi inaugurated an awareness walkathon on the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The Walkathon was organized by the Department of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities today.
In the morning, Shri Sethi inaugurated the program by waving the flag to the marchers who had gathered near the decorated dais at Shikharchandi Chowk.
Holding placards describing the differently-abled as well as being capable, capable and successful persons, students of special educational institutions, members of NGOs, civil society representatives and teachers marched to the Biju Patnaik Indoor Stadium in KIIT.
Many of the marchers dressed in quirky costumes performed impressive dance songs. The atmosphere was filled with musical instruments. In everyone’s voice was the hope and possibility of success for the differently-abled.
Disability Commissioner Bratati Harichandan, Director Niyati Patnaik, Special Secretary Dilip Kumar Roy, Additional Secretaries Santosh Kumar Pradhan and Deepak Routray, along with officials of various departments, volunteers and social workers were present on the occasion
