Padampur: Chief Electoral Officer Sushil Kumar Lohani on Tuesday visited poll-bound Padampur and reviewed the preparations for the upcoming bypolls.
He reviewed the law and order situation in view of the By-Poll and discussed it with the District Administration. The CEO discussed with officials on cases of violation of model code of conduct in Padampur.
On the occasion, Mr.Lohani held meetings with the Bargarh SP Smit Parmar and Collector Bargarh, Monisha Banerjee and directed them to take immediate action on violation of code of conduct.
Apart from taking stock of the overall scenario in the town, he also visited the counting center and strong room.
After the review, the CEO requested the political parties for the smooth elections. By-elections for Padampur assembly segment will be held on December 5.
Three major political parties have intensified their campaign for this.
Counting will be done on 8 December and CEO Mr.Lohani visited the counting site and inspected the arrangments. Officials say there will be 23 rounds of counting and it is to be done in one location.
There are 2,59,326 voters out of which 1,30,331 are male and 1,28,981 are female voters. 14 are transgender and there are 182 Service electors.
CEO took stock of security arrangments as some parts of Padampur are Maoist affected areas and mobilization of forces have been ensured, said a senior official.
