Berhampur Gets 5T Boost

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday said that the State Government is  making all efforts to make Berhampur an ideal city.

“Berhampur has always been of special importance to me. I think I have always kept a close eye on the development of Berhampur and Ganjam,” he said inaugurating the restoration and beautification of Ramlingeshwar Reservoir in the silk city.

CM Mr.Patnaik said the restoration of the reservoir is a unique example of transformation.

Secretary to Chief Minister V K Pandian moderated the discussion.

“I am keeping a close eye on the development work in Ganjam and Berhampur,” CM Mr.Patnaik said.

The unique example of Transformation has become the Ramlingeshwar Reservoir in Berhampur, which has become an unattractive and unhealthy environment for tourists.

The Chief Minister highlighted the history of the Ramlingeshwar Reservoir and said, “What was the condition of the reservoir in the last few years and where it has come from now.”

“This is Transformation. The Ramlingeshwar Reservoir and Park has earned a special place on the tourism map of Ganjam today. This has been made possible today, thanks to the unwavering support and cooperation of the people of Berhampur,” he said.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister highly praised the resilience of the people of Ganjam during Covid.

“Covid has been successfully controlled in the district today due to the restraint and self-reliance of the people of Ganjam and the district has become a role model for the whole country,” he added.

Forests & Environment Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, MP Chandrashekhar Sahu, MLA Bikram Panda, President of Odisha Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board Ramesh Chandra Chaupattanayak were among those present on the occasion.

Former Ganjam District Collector and BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhury and former Project Director Chakraborty Singh Rathore, who played an active role in the restoration and beautification of the reservoir, were felicitated by the Chief Minister.

Chief Minister Secretary 5T, VK Pandian expressed his heartfelt gratitude.

Senior officials, including Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, were present at the event.

Ganjam District Collector  delivered the welcome address and thanked the Commissioner of the Berhampur Municipal Corporation.

Notably, the 4-acre reservoir was unused for a period of six years. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens, making it more attractive.
