Sop For Data Center


Bhubaneswar: In an aim to attract private investment by setting up data centres, the State Government has offered 25 percent of Fixed Capital Investment (FCI) for development of Data Centre Park in the State.

The State Government has announced this sop in its new Data Centre Policy-2022, which was approved by the Cabinet during its last meeting held recently.

In the Policy, the Government has offered 25 percent of fixed capital investment per data centre park (consisting of several data centre units) as infrastructure development subsidy. Land will be provided at the concessional rates by IDCO to such park developers.

Similarly, 100 percent exemption on stamp duty and 100 percent reimbursement on electricity duty for 5 years will be provided to develop Data Centre Park. Interest Subsidy @ 5 percent of term loan from Banks/Financial institutions limited to Rs 25 crore for 7 years has also been offered through the policy.

The Government has also announced to provide 20 percent of FCI (Fixed capital Investment) upto Rs 25 crores per Data Centre unit.

For development of the Data Centre unit, land will be provided at the concessional rates by IDCO. Besides, 100 percent exemption on stamp duty and 100 percent reimbursement of conversion charges will be provided. Maximum 50 percent reimbursement upto Rs 2 lakhs as building fees subsidy will be provided per unit.

Exemption of electricity fee and inspection fee for a period of 10 years is allowed. Power bill subsidy @ 30 percent for 5 years and reimbursement @75 percent of cost of energy Audit upto  Rs 2 lakhs will be provided per unit.

The Government has also offered relaxation in tax payment to such investors.  The eligible units will further get 100 percent reimbursement of Net SGST for a period of maximum 7 years limited to 100 percent of FCI.

Promoting employment of local youths, the State has announced to provide recruitment assistance at Rs 8000 per newly recruited regular employee who is domiciles of Odisha with a maximum limit of Rs 30 lakhs per unit for a period of 3 years.

Additional Rs 2000 will be provided for the employees who are women, SC/ST or persons with disabilities. The scheme will remain in force for a period of 05 years or till substituted by another scheme.
