Bhubaneswar : Rendering yet another consumer centric value-addition to electricity service, an agreement was executed between Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and the three Distribution Utilities — NESCO, WESCO and SOUTHCO — today for online electricity bill payment through the ‘ODISHAONE’ web portal www.odishaone.gov.in.
The agreement was signed in presence of Chairman, GRIDCO-and-Administrator, NESCO, WESCO & SOUTHCO Saurabh Garg and GRIDCO Managing Director Trilochan Panda. Electronics & IT Secretary Manoj Mishra joined the event through videoconferencing.
In his welcome address, GRIDCO Managing Director Mr.Panda said that the initiative would be a win-win proposition for all stakeholders including the consumers, who will be benefited through the hassle-free collection provision close to their place. Rural consumers can avail the physical services of “Mo Seva Kendras” at Gram Panchayat level. It would help in improving the consumer coverage and overall commercial performance of the DISCOMs, he added.
Electronics & IT Secretary, Mr.Mishra hailed the web portal and highlighted that, “ODISHAONE” portal would be a common frontend interface to provide more than 200 citizen-centric services. The system is fully automated with robust infrastructure and reliable accounting. He hoped that the system will be adored by the consumers, for the lucrative 2% rebate for online payment option and alternate provision of around 9000 physical touch points throughout the State.
Chairman, GRIDCO-cum-Administrator, NESCO, WESCO & SOUTHCO Utilities, Mr.Garg lauded the efforts of teams at OCAC, GRIDCO (DMU) and the Utilities for execution of the agreements.
With the minimization of human interface, efficiency of Utilities and transparency in the system as well as quality of consumer service will improve, Mr.Garg said.
Around 63 lakh consumers of WESCO, NESCO & SOUTHCO Utilities shall be benefited by this Online Bill Payment facility.
