Berhampur: G Mathi Vathnan, Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development today visited Hinjilicut to review the progress of various development works.
This was followed by an intensive Review Meeting on the performance of the 23 Urban Local Bodies of 3 Districts i.e. Ganjam, Gajapati and Kandhamal held under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary, H&UD, Mr.Mathi Vathnan.
The objective of this meeting was to assess the performance of ULBs in progress of implementation of various Urban Initiatives that are extensively underway.
The progress in implementation of various key urban initiatives i.e. JAGA Mission, Urban Wage Employment Initiative, Construction and Operationalisation of Micro Composting Centres and Material Recovery Facilities in ULBs, Creation of Parichaya (Multi Purpose Community Centres) in slum areas, Mission Shakti Gruha in non-slum areas, Smart Street Lights, Revenue Augmentation etc. was extensively reviewed and target has been set against each activities for the effective implementation of the schemes and programs.
Principal Secretary, H&UD stressed upon focused and timely implementation of Urban Initiatives. Director Municipal Administration directed all the ULBs to improve performance in Revenue Augmentation and ensure the implementation of the various initiatives though Community Participation.
All Urban Local Bodies were directed to gear up to the occasion of Swachh Survekshan 2021 and should try to achieve the Top positions at National Level.
While reviewing the Urban Water Supply, Principal Secretary directed the engineers of Public Health to ensure 100 Percent coverage water supply to all households in all Urban Local Bodies by March 2021. Collectors were directed to periodically review the same.
Additional Secretary, Joint Secretary, Deputy Secretary from H&UD Department attended the meeting along with Collectors of Ganjam, Gajapati& Kandhamal Districts, Commissioner, Berhampur Municipal Corporation, Project Directors, Executive officers, Engineers from PHEO and concerned officials from District Administration also participated.
