Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced the formation of 34 newly Notified Area Councils(NAC) in 20 districts of the state and up gradation of five NACs in four districts to Municipalities.
As per the Chief Minister’s announcement, NACs in Boudhgarh in Boudh, Karanjia in Mayurbhanj, Kantabanji in Balangir district and Chatrapur and Aska NAC in Ganjam district have been upgraded to Municipalities.
The Chief Minister took the decision keeping in view the public’s suggestions and the need for development during the visit of 5T Chairman Shri Karthik Pandian to various districts.
The newly notified area councils are: Palalhara and Chhendipada in Angul district, Basta and Simulia in Balasore district, Paikmal and Bheden in Bargarh district, Agarpada in Bhadrak district, Belpara and Sanitala in Balangir district, Binjharpur, Panikoili, Jarka and Chandikhol in Jajpur district, Jayapatna in Kalahandi district, Raikia in Kandhamal district, Boriguma in Koraput district, Sinapali in Nuapada district, Chandili, Muniguda and Bisamkatak in Rayagada district, Dunguripali in Sonepur district, Bonai in Sundargarh district, Shergarh and Kukudakhandi in Ganjam district, Kantillo in Nayagarh district, Tangi and Begunia in Khurda district, Salepur, Badamba, Narsinghpur and Niali in Cuttack district, Betanti in Mayurbhanj district, Parjang in Dhenkanal district and Kantamal in Boudh district.
Keeping in view the demands of the people, increasing population, development and economic growth, the Chief Minister has decided to set up this newly notified area council. The chief minister expressed hope that the newly formed councils would work for the overall development of the region.
