Bhubaneswar: Like last year, the State Government has decided to reduce the syllabus for students of classes IX and X by 30 percent this year too, School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash said here on Wednesday.
“Though online teaching has been started for the school students due to the Covid-19 situation, it is not possible to reach each and every student through online mode. Hence, we have decided to reduce the syllabus by 30 percent,” Mr.Dash told media persons.
The State Government had last year slashed syllabus for Class I to XII by 30 percent as the academic session was affected due to the pandemic. Accordingly, 100 days of classroom teaching had been initiated. However, at a later stage, the examinations have been cancelled, he said.
He further informed that no decision has been taken yet regarding reopening of schools in the State. Elaborate arrangements have been made to ensure that the studies of students are not affected. They are being taught through online mode even though it has not been possible to reach every student, the Minister added.
The Government has started live streaming of classes on YouTube platform for the school students. The online teaching process for the students of Classes IX and X will continue till 31 July.
Four periods, beginning from 10.45 AM to 1 PM, are being held for five days from Monday to Friday. Similarly, Class I to VIII students will learn through online mode till 7 July.
