Bhubaneswar: State has reported another 14 Omicron cases on Saturday taking the total tally to 75.
Institute of Life Science (ILS), which is conducting genome sequencing required to find out Omicron variant of Coronavirus, has informed about the new cases to the State Health and Family Welfare Department. However, details of the new 14 cases are yet to be revealed by the health officials.
Notably, Odisha reported the first two Omicron cases on December 21 and both had travel history from Nigeria and Qatar. Within a span of 19 days, the cases have gone from 2 to 75.
Similarly, India has so far reported a total of 3071 Omicron cases. The Omicron cases have been reported across 27 States and union territories.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has declared a hostel of the Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) as a micro-containment zone following detection of huge cases there. According to sources, 30 students of XIMB tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.
