10 Maoists Surrender

Phulbani: In a landmark success for counter-insurgency efforts in Odisha, the state’s security apparatus has dealt a crippling blow to the outlawed CPI (Maoist) organization. Following the strategic direction and sincere efforts of Anti-Naxal Operations Chief Shri Sanjeeb Panda, the Ultras are surrendering to Odisha Police.

Thanks to the efforts of IGP Operations Dr. Deepak Kumar, and strategic inputs from SIW DIG Shri Akhilesvar Singh, and field operations of Kandhamal SP Harisha B.C., a significant group of high-ranking cadres has renounced violence to join the mainstream.

This major breakthrough saw the surrender of ten underground operatives, including a State Committee Member, a Divisional Committee Member, and two Area Committee Members.

The surrender included the recovery of sophisticated weaponry such as INSAS and SLR rifles. The coordinated approach by these senior officers has directly resulted in eroding the leadership and operational strength of the extremist group in the KKBN division.

These operations align with the firm commitment of Union Minister of Home Affairs Shri Amit Shah, who has set a definitive deadline of 31 March 2026 to eliminate the Naxal menace from the country.

The successful integration of these cadres into society serves as a testament to the effectiveness of the government’s rehabilitation policy and the relentless pressure maintained by security forces.

By choosing the path of peace, these former members have expressed their faith in the democratic process. The Odisha State Police continues to appeal to remaining active cadres to surrender and avail themselves of the comprehensive support and protection offered by the state, ensuring a future defined by dignity rather than bloodshed.

On behalf of the Odisha State Police DGP, appeals to the CPI MAOIST cadres and leaders to come out and join the mainstream society and assures that all underground CPI (Maoist) cadres who choose to surrender will receive full support, protection, and assistance under the Odisha Government’s comprehensive rehabilitation and reintegration program, enabling them to rebuild their lives in a peaceful, dignified, and meaningful manner.
