Bhubaneswar: The state is likely to witness wet Dusshera this year as the India Meteorological Department has forecast rainfall activities in several districts of the State from October 23 to 25.
A low pressure area has formed over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal today. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels. It is likely to intensify further into a depression over west central Bay of Bengal around October 22, the IMD said.
The system is likely to move west-northwestwards initially till October 22 morning and then gradually recurve north-northeast wards towards Bangladesh coast.
Under its impact, some parts of coastal Odisha would experience rainfall activities from October 23 to 25. Whether heavy rainfall would occur or not, can be predicted only after knowing the path of movement of the depression, Bhubaneswar Met centre Director H R Biswas said.
Light to moderate thundershower is very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, at one or two places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri on October 23 (Nabami).

However, dry weather conditions will prevail in the state till October 22, the IMD said.
