Cuttack: The State Police Department has asked all of its field level officers not to be involved in activities like transportation and unauthorized operations in mining and industrial areas.
Additional Director General (ADG) of Police (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar has recently written a letter to all Superintendents of Police (SPs), IGs, DIGs, and Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Police Commissioner in this regard.
The State Police Headquarters have noticed that certain field officers are involved in activities not related to policing duties, specifically in transportation and other unauthorized operations in mining and industrial zones, he said.
“The Director General of Police (DGP) has expressed grave concern over this issue and has emphasized that such actions fall outside the scope of police responsibilities,” read the letter.
Any continued involvement or favoritism in these matters will be dealt with seriously, warned the ADG of Police.
All the field level officers have been instructed to take cognizance of the directive and comply with it in strict accordance.
As certain police officials are involved in the activities like checking transport vehicles in mining and industrial areas, the officers were asked to stop such activities and focus on policing. The concerned department officers will deal with such activities.
