Vigilance Arrests 181 Officers

Cuttack: Odisha Vigilance led by Tough Cop Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa has registered a total of 200 criminal cases and arrested 181 government officers and others during the year 2024.

According to an official data shared by the Vigilance Directorate today, corruption cases have been registered against 50 class-I officers including 6 chief engineers, joint commissioner excise, deputy director fisheries, two assistant commissioners CT&GST, a jail superintendent, sub-collector, two tahsildars, two BDOs, 3 civil supply officers, one FA & CAO, and others.

The State Vigilance has arrested 181 individuals including 19 engineers, 22 revenue officials, 20 Panchayati Raj officials, 9 police officers, 5 doctors, 3 forest officials, and 3 ICDS functionaries during the year.

Similarly, the Directorate of Vigilance has registered 60 disproportionate asset cases and unearthed properties worth over Rs 131 crore, the officials said.

It has registered 96 trap cases, in which 115 persons including 99 government officers were trapped while demanding and taking bribes worth Rs 19.25 lakh.

Informing about the investigation of the corruption cases, the State Vigilance said it has carried out searches at over 483 locations, freezed 792 bank accounts of corrupt public servants, evaluated 194 buildings/projects in 72 valuation cases worth Rs 27.03 crore and 38 spouses made co-accused in 60 DA cases.

During the year, investigations were completed in 307 cases and recorded the highest ever disposal rate of 154%.

The vigilance has achieved 105 convictions at a conviction rate of 50%, and 80% conviction rate in DA cases. As many 25 government functionaries were dismissed from service following their conviction in the vigilance cases, the officials informed.
