Bhubaneswar: Renowned Author and Ambassador Pawan K Varma highly praised veteran leader and former Chief Minister Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo on his 111 birth anniversary.
While launching the Book, “Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo-A Man Among Princess” here on the occasion of birth anniversary of the former CM, Shri Varma said, “Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo was a true democrat. He was a people’s man. He was a man deeply rooted with his culture. He understood the root of his legacy.”
Like a true royal he never wanted anything for own benefit. For people like Maharaja Rajendra Narayan Singh Deo Odisha is still considered as inspiration for India, he said.
The Maharaja had ordered an inquiry against himself by a retired judge of the Supreme Court. “Now a days we are not able to see such a leader,” Shri Varma said.
He was always thinking for the welfare of the people and he has set up several institutions in the spirit of democracy, the former Diplomat added.
The Maharaja has always remained above caste, religion and gender. That’s why he had taken steps to allow Dalits to visit Hindu temples, said former minister and senior BJD Lawmaker Prafulla Samal.

On this occasion, eminent politician and Former Minister A U Singh Deo in his address said that, “I have learned humility from him. He was a very gentle and humble person. He loved children very much.”
“One thing distinguishes him from others is that he never gets angry with anyone. Not even in his political career. During his Chief Minister tenure, he was not angry with those who accused him,” Shri Singh Deo said.
