Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged Twin City Commissionerate of Police to introduce more technological interventions to enhance the effectiveness of policing in the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
Speaking at the 16th Raising Day of Commissionerate Police, Shri Patnaik said the organisation has grown substantially in this glorious journey of 16 years. Today, as many as 52 Police Stations are functioning under it.
On this occasion, he inaugurated the “Unified Command and Control Centre” and launched “e- Abedan” App on this occasion. This will make the organisation more robust and help the Police become more people friendly, he stated.
Congratulating all the members of the Commissionerate Police, Bhubaneswar & Cuttack, on the raising day, the CM said, “I also desire that more technological interventions be introduced to enhance the effectiveness.”
“I have always emphasised on citizen centric and citizen friendly policing. Over the last several years, the Commissionerate Police has taken up a number of drives to connect to several vulnerable sections of society including slum dwellers, senior citizens, and children,” the Chief Minister said.
It has also taken up initiative for spreading Cyber Crime Awareness in educational institutions, he said.
Stating security of women is a top priority of his Government, Shri Patnaik said the Police must work towards creating confidence among victims by taking a sensible and empathetic approach.
He further said that the Commissionerate Police has done an excellent job in achieving a significant increase in conviction rate last year. The feedback on implementation of 5T have been quite good, he said, adding, “I will be very happy if the experience of visitors to police stations is improved further.”
The Chief Minister hoped the Commissionerate Police will rise to new challenges to create a sense of security among the citizens, and improve its capacity to become a model for the country.
