Bhubaneswar: The Higher Education Department of Odisha has officially released the schedule for undergraduate e-admissions across the state for the 2026–27 academic year. According to the announcement, the online application process will start today, May 27, 2026, marking a significant milestone as the state fully aligns its degree programs with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Aspiring students can access the Common Application Form on the Student Academic Management System portal starting at 4:00 PM. The application window will remain open until June 10, 2026, giving students exactly two weeks to register, select their preferred institutions, and finalize their subject choices. Following the verification and processing of applications, the department will publish the first round merit list on June 17, 2026.
This academic year introduces structural flexibility for undergraduate students under the NEP 2020 framework. When navigating the portal, applicants are no longer confined to traditional, rigid stream boundaries. Instead, they can customize their academic paths by opting for diverse setups, such as a single major paired with two minor subjects, a double major, or three minor subjects tailored to their personal academic interests and career goals.
The state has set a clear timeline to minimize academic disruption and transition smoothly into the new system. Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Higher Education Department, Shri Aravind Agrawal, emphasized that the government has targeted July 9, 2026, to officially commence undergraduate classes for the new batch. Officials have urged students to review the eligibility criteria and prepare their documents early to avoid last-minute technical delays on the portal.
