UCCIL Spearheads Industry PNG Connect

Bhubaneswar: Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL) joined forces with GAIL (India) Limited to host a landmark Awareness Workshop on Piped Natural Gas (PNG) for Industries, signaling a new era of energy collaboration in Odisha.

The event, held at Hotel Lyfe in Bhubaneswar, represented the first formal joint venture between the Maharatna PSU and UCCIL to address industrial fuel needs.

The workshop took shape under the leadership of UCCIL President Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, whose proactive stance on modernizing industrial infrastructure drove the partnership. Facilitated by UCCIL Secretary Dr. Sanjeev Mahapatra at the President’s behest, the session served as a direct bridge between policy providers and the manufacturing sector.

GAIL General Manager Shri Kaushik Das detailed the ongoing efforts to establish a robust gas network in the Khurda and Cuttack districts. To provide a clear roadmap for attendees, Shri Soumya Ranjan Mohanty, Chief Manager of Marketing at GAIL, delivered a technical presentation on the practical benefits and supply mechanics of piped gas.

Taking a lead role in the discussions, Dr. Prabodh Mohanty urged GAIL to prioritize the acceleration of domestic gas supply within Bhubaneswar. He specifically advocated for a pilot program to be launched at the Mancheswar Industrial Estate, instructing Dr. Sanjeev Mahapatra to coordinate the logistics for this rollout. In turn, GAIL officials requested the UCCIL leadership to assist in gathering the necessary industrial data to streamline the infrastructure development.

The session was attended by several key figures, including Joint Treasurer Shri S. Kanhu Ranjan Prusty, Advisor Shri Gyana Ranjan Mohanty, and former Secretary Shri Debabrata Das, alongside numerous representatives from the manufacturing industry.

This high-level fruitful discussions marking a successful step forward in UCCIL’s mission to power regional growth with cleaner energy.
