UCCIL Hosts GeM Meet

Bhubaneswar: Government e-Marketplace (GeM) has reiterated its commitment to supporting industry sector, promising focused outreach and hands-on assistance to bring them onto the public procurement platform.

The assurance came during a GeM Stakeholders Workshop held by the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL). Shri Satya Narayan Meena, IRSSE, Additional CEO of GeM from New Delhi, led the central team, which included Shri Anshuman Patnaik, Joint Director GeM, Odisha.

Dr.Prabodh Mohanty, President, Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who has all along supported both Union and State Government connect with industry sector, chaired the meeting.

In his keynote address, Shri Meena emphasized the government’s drive to take the GeM platform “to the doorsteps of the people” to enable maximum participation, particularly from MSMEs. He stated that the GeM department would maintain a close relationship with UCCIL and conduct several series of focused awareness programs specifically targeting unregistered businesses. Crucially, he committed that GeM would “handhold” these enterprises through the registration process on the portal.

UCCIL President Dr. Prabodh Mohanty gave the Special Address, strongly urging participants to utilize the GeM platform and leverage its advantages as a government tool for business.

The workshop included a detailed presentation by Shri Anand Kishore Mishra, Consultant Training and Development. A robust Question and Answer session followed, where participants’ queries were recorded and addressed by the GeM team.

Responding to a request from Dr. Mohanty, the Additional CEO assured that GeM would send a feedback form link to be circulated among UCCIL members. This feedback will be instrumental in designing future focused programs to address specific issues faced by the members.

The event was facilitated with the support of Shri Sambit Tripathi, Ex-Income tax Commissioner. Shri J.K. Rath, Vice President Industry, UCCIL, gave the welcome address, and Dr. Sanjeev Mahapatra, Secretary, UCCIL, delivered the vote of thanks. Other prominent attendees included Shri Murali Jamula, Vice President Commerce, and Shri Kanhu Ranjan Prusty, Joint Treasurer.
