Bhubaneswar: Industrialist and sports patron Shri Pankaj Lochan Mohanty continues to make headlines for his comprehensive contributions to Odisha’s development, extending his influence across industry, cricket, and a variety of other sports.
Shri Mohanty, a prominent figure in Odisha’s industrial landscape and a zealous promoter of sports, art, and culture, was recently felicitated at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL).
The honor was bestowed by UCCIL President Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, recognizing Shri Mohanty’s recent election as President of the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) and his significant contributions to social and cultural activities across the state.
Shri Mohanty, who heads the MGM Group and is recognized as a leading philanthropist, has long been a champion for the all-round development of Odisha.
His dedication to sports has been particularly impactful, now culminating in another tenure as the OCA President, where he is actively working towards modernizing key sports infrastructure, including the iconic Barabati Stadium.
In his capacity as a Captain of Industry, Shri Mohanty is a pivotal voice for the state’s economic progress, notably serving as the Chairman of the Odisha State Development Council, ASSOCHAM, and advocating for Odisha’s transition into a digitally intelligent manufacturing hub.
The felicitation at the UCCIL AGM underscores the widespread appreciation for Shri Mohanty’s multifaceted contributions, which extend beyond business and cricket to encompass generous support for various social and cultural initiatives, including the sponsorship of sports teams like the Odisha Deaf Cricket Association.
As the Chairman of the MGM School of Sports, Shri Mohanty is actively building a high-performance cricket ecosystem in the state. The MGM School of Sports is a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Cricket near Cuttack, a residential academy with world-class facilities including international-standard grounds, indoor arenas, and a strength and conditioning unit.
Beyond cricket, Shri Mohanty’s dedication to sports promotion is diverse. He has notably extended support to other disciplines, including Golf. He is supporting budding talents in Golf.
