Bhubaneswar: Dr. Prabodh Kumar Mohanty, President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL), today lauded the Prime Minister’s Independence Day address from the Red Fort, particularly praising the strong focus on the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector.
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi outlined a vision for strengthening the nation’s manufacturing prowess, resonated deeply with the business community.
Dr. Mohanty highlighted the Prime Minister’s renewed call for MSMEs to adopt the “Zero Defect, Zero Effect” (ZED) mantra. This philosophy, he noted, is a crucial step toward enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian products.
The ZED model encourages manufacturers to produce goods with zero defects, ensuring top-tier quality, while also having zero negative effect on the environment through sustainable practices. Dr. Mohanty stated that this approach would be instrumental in building a respected global brand for products made in India.
The UCCIL President also praised the government’s commitment to providing support for MSMEs, as mentioned in the speech. The focus on ensuring the easy availability of raw materials and finding ways to reduce production costs shows a clear understanding of the challenges faced by the sector. This support is vital for small businesses to scale up and compete effectively.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohanty enthusiastically endorsed the Prime Minister’s new manufacturing mantra: “Lower price, but higher value.” He explained that this is a strategic imperative for MSMEs to thrive in the global market.
The goal is not just to be cheap, but to create products that offer a superior value proposition to customers, thereby moving up the global value chain. By embracing this mindset, MSMEs can transform from being suppliers of mere components to producers of globally recognized, high-quality finished goods.
Dr. Mohanty concluded by expressing his optimism that the Prime Minister’s vision for comprehensive and integrated development will pave the way for a new era of growth and prosperity for India’s MSMEs, positioning them as a driving force behind the nation’s economic progress
