Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presided over a groundbreaking ceremony at OUAT, where he engaged with business leaders to discuss investment opportunities and Odisha’s goal of becoming a premier industrial hub. The event focused on sustainable growth and the ‘Viksit Odisha’ vision.
During the event, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for 27 new industrial projects with a combined investment of approximately ₹25,380 crore. These projects are anticipated to create over 52,000 jobs across 12 districts, including Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Khordha, and Angul.
The new industries will span key sectors such as renewable energy, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. The event also saw the participation of prominent figures, including Dr. Prabodh Kumar Mohanty, President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL).
The ‘Viksit Odisha for Viksit Bharat’ initiative is a key focus of the current government, aiming to transform the state’s economy and infrastructure. The plan includes a goal to achieve a $500 billion economy by 2036 and a $1.5 trillion economy by 2047, with an emphasis on creating more than one crore new jobs and developing a diversified industrial landscape. The government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment and has planned a series of domestic and international roadshows to attract further investment.
During the groundbreaking event at OUAT, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Mohanty, President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry Limited (UCCIL), emphasized the need for digital transformation across various sectors to achieve Odisha’s ambitious economic goals. He stated that to reach the $500 billion economy target by 2036, the state must embrace digital technologies to drive efficiency and sustainable growth.
Dr. Mohanty highlighted the mining and metals sector as a key driver of Odisha’s economy, noting that the government’s introduction of digital transformation in this area is a crucial step. He also mentioned that technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Blockchain are playing a vital role in shaping the future of business.
