Jharsuguda: Dr. Prabodh Mohanty, President of the Utkal Chamber of Commerce and Industry Limited (UCCIL) and Managing Director of the SNM Group, a major mining and industry conglomerate in Odisha, delivered a significant address today at the Odisha Mining Conclave 2025.
Dr.Mohanty stressed the critical need for a robust logistic infrastructure and the swift adoption of sustainable, green technologies across the mining and manufacturing sectors.
UCCIL Chief highlighted Odisha’s ambitious vision to become Asia’s Premier Hub for Mining and Metals. UCCIL Chief further stressed the importance of achieving ‘Viksit Odisha’ (Developed Odisha) through robust mineral production, which, he noted, underpins the growth of key industries in the state.
Dr.Mohanty mentioned India’s national goal of producing 300 Million Tons of Steel by 2030, stating that Odisha is expected to contribute a substantial 100 Million Tons of Steel to meet this deadline.
The Captain of Industry emphasized that achieving this ambitious steel production target is heavily dependent on improving logistics infrastructure within Odisha.
Dr.Mohanty specifically harped on the development of inland waterways, noting their vast scope in the state as a crucial component for efficient transportation. This infrastructure enhancement is necessary for the efficient evacuation of critical raw materials, including iron ore, chrome ore, and various other metals.
The UCCIL President’s address positioned the Chamber as a vocal proponent for fostering a modern, competitive, and sustainable industrial landscape in the state. UCCIL aims to leverage both Odisha’s rich natural resources and its technological potential. The Odisha Mining Conclave, a major event on the state’s industrial calendar, provided a high-profile platform for Dr. Mohanty’s timely policy recommendations.
