Bhubaneswar: Fire Brand Saffron Leader Tankadhar Tripathy has won from Jharsuguda Assembly Segment.
Shri Tripathy defeated Deepali Das of Biju Janata Dal with a convincing margin from the Industrial Zone of the State.
As per latest information the BJP has won eight MLA seats and is leading in 72 constituencies while BJD and Congress have won one seat each, as per Election Commission sources.
The BJP has won Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Attabira, Brajarajnagar, Raghunathpali, Kuchinda, Umerkote, and Chilika MLA seats so far while BJD won the Rourkela seat and Congress got Chitrakonda seat.
Senior BJP leader Suresh Pujari won Brajarajnagar MLA seat with a margin of 26,789 votes from his nearest rival BJD candidate Alaka Mohanty.
Nityanand Gond won from Umerkote assembly seat with a margin of 1037 votes from his nearest rival Nabina Nayak of the BJD.
Similarly, Nihar Ranjan Mahanand won the Attabira MLA seat with a margin of 2891 votes while Rabi Narayan Naik won the Kuchinda assembly segment by 3222 votes.
The other elected BJP candidates are–Durga Charan Tanti (Raghunathpali), Prithiviraj Harichandan (Chilika), Tankadhar Tripathy (Jharsuguda), Nihar Ranjan Mahananda (Attabira), and Ashwini Kumar Sarangi (Bargarh).
BJD leader and Minister Sarada Prasad Nayak won the Rourkela seat while Congress candidate Mangu Khilla won the Chitrakonda seat.
Out of 147 seats, results have been declared for 10 MLA seats. Of 137 remaining seats, BJP is leading in 73 seats, BJD in 47, Congress in 13 segments and CPI (M) in one seat.
Besides, three independent candidates are front runners in the race. They are—Himanshu Sekhar Sahoo (Dharmasala), Bijay Kumar Dalabehera (Baramba) and Sarada Prasad Padhan (Mahanga).
