Bhubaneswar: Shri Indramani Tripathy, Director, Factories and Boilers, Odisha has said that safety should not be viewed merely as a statutory obligation but as a proactive daily commitment that requires the seamless cooperation of both management and the workforce.
On December 19, 2025, the third phase of the state-level training workshop focused on the “Role and Responsibilities of the Safety Committee” was successfully conducted in Bhubaneswar.
This initiative, organized by the Directorate of Factories and Boilers in collaboration with the State Labour Institute, underscores the Government of Odisha’s commitment to fostering a zero-accident culture within the state’s burgeoning industrial sector.
The event was graced by Shri Indramani Tripathy, IAS, who serves as both the Director of Factories and Boilers and the Commissioner of Labour, Odisha. Participating as the Chief Guest, Shri Tripathy provided strategic guidance to the attendees, emphasizing that the effectiveness of a Safety Committee is the cornerstone of industrial harmony and worker protection.
He advised that safety should not be viewed merely as a statutory obligation but as a proactive daily commitment that requires the seamless cooperation of both management and the workforce.

The workshop aimed to empower Safety Committee members with advanced skills in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention. By clarifying the specific legal and operational mandates of these committees, the Directorate seeks to ensure that every industrial unit in Odisha operates with the highest standards of safety. Shri Tripathy’s dual role as Labour Commissioner and Director of Factories and Boilers allowed him to offer a comprehensive perspective on how safety protocols directly impact labor welfare and overall industrial productivity.
Senior officials from the Directorate, including Dr. Malay Kumar Pradhan, Deputy Director of Safety, also contributed to the sessions, highlighting the technical aspects of safety audits and the importance of regular committee meetings to address emerging workplace challenges. The program concluded with an interactive session where safety representatives from various industries shared best practices and discussed solutions to practical safety hurdles in their respective units.
This third phase marks a significant milestone in the state’s ongoing mission to enhance the professional capabilities of safety officers and committee members, ensuring a secure and efficient working environment for all industrial workers in Odisha.
