Bhubaneswar: The International Museum Day (IMD) was celebrated at Odisha State Tribal Museum. Along with this, the 15-day Summer Saura Painting Camp, which has been going on since 4 May, has also been concluded.
A summer saura painting camp was organised for school students at the Odisha State Tribal Museum on the premises of The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Research and Training Institute (SCSTRTI).
Sabita Acharya, Vice Chancellor, Utkal University, Roopa Roshan Sahoo, Secretary, Department of Development of Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes, Welfare of Minorities and Backward Classes, Indramani Tripathy, Director Tribal Affairs & Director, SCSTRTI and Santosh Kumar Rath, Deputy Director, SCSTRTI graced the occasion.
Prof. Acharya, who was the chief guest at the event, spoke to the students about the diverse museums and informed the students about the National Education Policy 2020.
She informed that children can get success in the workplace through this education policy in future.
Shrimati Sahoo, Secretary, SC ST Development informed the students about the art of excellence of the tribe and opined that it can provide a platform to take its excellence to the masses, especially to the next generation.
Shri Tripathy, Director, SCSTRTI spoke on the significance of The International Museum Day and presented the objective of this year’s titled ‘Museum for Education and Research’.
The students who participated in the event shared their experiences and expressed happiness that they have received many important information about the tribal culture.
As many as 33 students from around 14 schools in Bhubaneswar participated.
Chandrashekhar Sethi, Senior Lecturer, B.K. College of Arts, Junes Gamang, Saura artists and Rabinath Sabar taught the students about art and culture.
On the occasion, participation certificates were given to all the contestants while six winners in the painting quiz were honoured.
Sanghamitra Sethi, Co-Director of the Museum, proposed the vote of thanks and other functionaries of SCSTRTI were present at today’s event.
