Bhubaneswar: While the recent conquest of Everest Base Camp by the 11 brave hearts from Bhubaneswar Cycling & Adventure Club, who trekked through relentless rain, tough trails, and thinning air stands as a testament to their unwavering grit and patriotism. And it’s crucial to highlight the remarkable foundation laid by the club’s President, Sanjeeb Panda, IPS, ADGP, Odisha.
His vision and the club’s deep roots in cycling are undeniably the spirit behind BCAC’s consistent pursuit of extraordinary adventures.
Under Top Cop Shri Panda’s leadership, BCAC has not only inspired its members to push physical and mental boundaries but has also fostered a vibrant community centered around the love for trekking and cycling.
Long before the challenging ascent to Everest Base Camp, BCAC had already carved a name for itself through monumental cycling expeditions that showcased the sheer endurance and adventurous spirit of its members.
From the breathtaking “Manali to Leh Khardungla” tour, conquering some of the world’s highest motorable passes, to the cross-country “Bhubaneswar to Bhutan” and “Cuttack to Kathmandu” rides, and even the international “Vietnam to Cambodia” journey – these cycling feats are a clear reflection of the adventurous ethos Sanjeeb Panda has meticulously cultivated within BCAC.

These grueling multi-day rides, covering vast distances and diverse terrains, demand not just physical prowess but also immense camaraderie and strategic planning, all hallmarks of a well-organized and passionately led club.

The team is led by Ajay Kumar Nanda, Secretay BCAC. The team members are Soumya Ranjan Biswal, Raj Kumar Gunawat, Leena Sahu, Ramesh Sahu, Dr Kadambini Parida, Dr Akhay Sahu, Bibhabasu Dash, Biswasima Mohanty, Ajit Panda, Ashok Sethi.
Despite the downpour, the team stood strong at Everest Base Camp and sang Jana Gana Mana, our national anthem echoing in the heart of the Himalayas. A moment none of us will ever forget – said Biswasima Mohanty, the youngest member of the group.
“It wasn’t easy. Heavy rain after just two hours into the trek challenged every step, especially on the return path. But we endured together” said BCAC Secretary, Shri Nanda
