Bhubaneswar: Ahead of Lok Sabha and Assembly polls, senior BJP leader and party’s Odisha election in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar did not rule out possible alliance between the BJP and BJD.
Shri Tomar has arrived here to hold poll preparedness meetings with senior leaders and workers. While replying to a query about talks on possible alliance between BJP and BJD in Odisha, Tomar, “The Central leadership of the party will decide about it.”
However, he said the BJP is fully prepared to fight in all the Assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha.
“We are confident of securing absolute majority in both Lok Sabha and Odisha Assembly,” he claimed.
The BJP leader, who had earlier rejected alliance with the BJD, today made a different statement, which has added fuel to the speculation that BJD and BJP may join hands during the upcoming polls.
Shri Tomar also informed that names of candidates for two to three Lok Sabha seats in Odisha are likely to find place in the first list of 100 party nominees likely to be released soon.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit the State again in the first week of March, State BJP President Manmohan Samal said today.
This will be Shri Modi’s second tour of the state this year as he visited Sambalpur in western Odisha on February 3.
This time, the Prime Minister is likely to visit the coastal area and address a public rally there, he said.
During his visit, Shri Modi is likely to attend a programme at Chandikhole in Jajpur district, he said, adding, “I will share the exact date and itinerary once we get the details.”
