Timeline Set For Urban Projects

Bhubaneswar: Principal Secretary Housing and Urban Development, G Mathivathanan has stressed upon proper execution of developmental project in a time bound manner.

Mr.Mathivathanan, known for his strict discipline and honest approach for work was taking up Review and Monitoring of the activities being undertaken by the Urban Local Bodies in different towns and cities of the State.

Given thrust by Housing & Urban Development Department, ULB Commissioners and Executive Officers were advised to adhere to time line, so that benefits will be accrued by the Citizens.

During the process, the implementation of the activities in accordance with 5-T Charter in true spirit has received prominence.

Review Meeting held on 12 February at Convention Hall of Lokseva Bhawan, where Principal Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Mr.Mathivathanan stressed upon the proper execution of the activities within the stipulated time period in the event.

During the review of the activities Hon’ble CM’s Cleanest City Award was discussed at length and Mr. Mathivathanan urged upon all the Urban Local Bodies to make their cities eligible to participate in the prestigious Hon’ble CM’s Cleanest City Award. It is to mention here that Hon’ble CM’s Cleanest City Award process has been started from this year and it would strengthen sanitation value chain in a mission to make the Odisha “Swachha Odisha Sustha Odisha”.

Apart from this, other aspects of Urban Sanitation including proper functioning of Wealth Centre, progress in implementation of various key urban initiatives were reviewed.

Those activities include Construction and Operationalisation of Micro Composting Centres and Material Recovery Facilities in ULBs, Revenue Generation, Smart Street Lights, Water supply position and Livelihood Mission etc.

These issues were discussed at length and the target was set against each activity for the effective implementation of the schemes and programmes.

Emphasis was given on internal revenue generation to make the ULBs self-sustainable.

Apart from that, review of development works under different schemes was undertaken.

All were instructed to utilise the funds and to submit utilisation certificate quickly.

Similarly, sanitation issues and the issue of Land Right certificates were discussed. All Collectors were requested to take the stock of the situation at their level and to take required action.

Sangramjit Naik , Director Municipal Administration gave introductory address .Among others Kalyan Kumar Rath , Additional Secretary,  Pravat kumar Mohapatra Joint Secretary and Sarada Panda Deputy Secretary cum Additional Director SUDA spoke on various schemes .

Collectors, Project Directors DUDAs, Commissioner BMC, Executive officers and concerned officials from District Administration and ULBs of the 5 districts attended the review meeting.
