Bhubaneswar: Targeting the Governing BJD ahead of twin elections to State Assembly and Lok Sabha, the BJP today released ‘chargesheet’ against the BJD Government, which has ruled the State for nearly 25 years.

The 50-page chargesheet title, ‘Kete Dina Au Sahiba, Parivartan Aniba’ (How long do we tolerate, it’s time to bring a change) was released here in presence of Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, State President Manmohan Samal, Odisha In-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar and party’s National Vice-President Baijayant Panda.

In the charge-sheet book, the party has targeted the BJD Government over several alleged corruption, irregularities, labour migration, mining scam, chit fund scam, unemployment and mis-rule.

The BJP leaders alleged that the BJD, which has completed 25 years in power in Odisha, has only misled and harassed the people of the State.

“In Odisha, there have been a lot of irregularities in the 25 years of BJD rule. We have witnessed a declining graph of BJD as far as the upliftment of farmers, infrastructure, and other aspects are concerned. The BJD Government had promised to provide irrigation facilities and set up cold storages in 314 blocks, but it has failed to achieve the target,” Shri Yadav said.

It has also failed miserably in making the state safe for women in the last 24 years. The rise in the number of missing children is another area of concern, he alleged.

He said landless labourers from Odisha are migrating to other states and over 40,000 labourers have moved out of Odisha in the past year as the Government has failed to provide employment to the people in the State.

Shri Yadav said that the BJD claimed that the KALIA scheme would bring a massive change in the lives of farmers, but the Government later admitted that the number of beneficiaries under the scheme dropped.

Similarly, Odisha is at the bottom line when it comes to income of farmers. The BJD Government has failed to achieve its promised target of providing irrigation facilities and setting up cold storages in 314 blocks, he pointed out.

The Union Minister further said that the State Government is selling power produced in Odisha to Tamil Nadu at a rate of Rs 2.53 per unit whereas the people of Odisha are paying Rs 2.83 per unit. The top leaders and those running the government in Odisha need to answer this to the people of the State.

Similarly, NCRB data shows that Odisha is a place where the crime against women has increased. Here the BJD government has failed miserably to give protection to women in the last 25 years. The rise in the number of missing children is also another area of concern along with the suicide of women here, Yadav said.

The total teachers in colleges and universities dropped to 40000 in 2019 from 43000 in 2015-16 while the tally is much better in West Bengal, Jharkhand and other states, he claimed.

More than 6400 villages in the state are yet to get road connectivity. Maximum number of these villages are located in tribal hinterland.

The BJP is contesting the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Odisha to form governments at the centre and the State and offer good governance, Shri Yadav claimed.

“The Tamil Nadu Generation Distribution Corporation is buying power at 2.53 paisa per unit from Odisha while the consumers of the State are being charged 2.83 paisa per unit. The top leaders and those running the government in Odisha need to answer this to the people of the State,” the Union Minister said.

State President Shri Samal targeted the BJD government over the chit fund scam and alleged that the BJD Government has failed to return the money of 40 chit fund depositors.

The party will reach every village of Odisha as the BJD government has hurt the sentiments of people and ignored Odia pride, he said.
