Team For Ekamra Plan

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government on Monday notified constitution of a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) to steer, guide and coordinate various matters related to implementation of the EKAMRA scheme aimed at beautifying the area around the temple of Lord Lingaraj in the State Capital.

The State Government has launched a special scheme called “Ekamra Plan” under the Works Department for development of Ekamra Kshetra in Old Town, Bhubaneswar for which an area of about 80 acres has been identified around the Temple.

In the project area, a large number of monuments are located, has a large number of holy tanks and water bodies, including Bindu Sagar.

The State Government proposes to take up a comprehensive plan for development of this project area.

 The plan will include interventions for conservation and revival of the monuments, development of amenities for devotees and pilgrims pedestrianization of the project area, and diverting the traffic to the periphery of the project area.

“After careful consideration, State Government is pleased to constitute a Project Advisory Committee (PAC) to steer, guide and coordinate various matters related to implementation of the projects comprising of  Chairman Santrupt Mishra and Secretary Works, Revenue Divisional Commissioner, Commissioner, Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Endowment Commissioner, Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological Survey Bhubaneswar Circle, Bhubaneswar and Additional Secretary Law, In-charge of Shree Lingaraj Temple Administration as Members,” an official release said here.

The other members are DCP Bhubaneswar Urban District, Director, Culture/ State Archaeology, Managing Director OBCC, Collector Khurda, Padma Vibhushan Sudarshan Sahoo (Sculptor Member) and Five persons including three from amongst the Sevaks of the Temple and two persons who are eminent personalities in the field of Heritage/Culture; as nominated by the Government and another two persons having experience of conservation of monuments, preferably with experience in ASI/ State Archaeology.

The Chairman of the Committee can invite any official or expert or member of public for discussion on the issues related to the project or to participate in the meeting, the notification said.

The Members of Project Advisory Committee to be nominated by State Government vide Para 2 (m) and Para 2 (n) will be notified separately in the meantime, it said adding, “The meetings of the Project Advisory Committee (PAC) will be called at regular intervals to finalize various issues related to development of the project area. All plans, projects, interventions, and initiatives in the project area will be approved by this Committee.”
