Bhubaneswar: The Excise Officials in a special drive against illicit trafficking of Illicit Liquor, duplicate and non-duty paid Foreign Liquor fixed from 10-24 October on account Durga Puja.
Narasingha Bhol, Excise Commissioner, Odisha led the Team Excise for special drive and a record number of 2594 cases have been detected, with the arrest of 2202 persons.
During the special drive 92958 Litres of illicit distilled Liquor, 248.34 Ltrs of Duplicate IMFL, 15 Liters of Non-duty paid Foreign Liquor, 118 Ltrs of Non-duty paid of Country Liquors, 65.85 Ltrs of Non-duty paid Beer. 230 numbers of vehicle were also seized. The approximate seizure value of the seized articles is 2.56 Crores.
The Superintendents of Excise of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Bargarh and Balasore have been issued appreciation letter for their enforcement activities.
Excise Directorate is having close watch in the enforcement activities of field functionaries. The monthly and fortnightly review of all Districts and EI & EB Units are being made regularly by the Excise Commissioner for strengthening the enforcement activities to have a control over Excise crimes in coming days
