Narendrapur: In order to drive a positive change and encourage best safety practices within the steel construction industry, Tata BlueScope Steel successfully conducted unique certified roofers and structural riggers program under the aegis of ‘Kawach Pro-Certification Workshop’ at Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM), located in Dhenkanal district of Odisha.
This initiative, developed in collaboration with CIDC (Construction Industry Development Council), has been accepted and approved by more than 180 Government Departments.
Its main objective is to address the shortage of professionally trained structural riggers and roofers and augment the pool of skilled workers in the country.
The two-day workshop is a blend of both theoretical and practical learning imparted by trained experts. The training imparted to 50 construction workers on critical equipment handling and working at height with best safety practices.
Sharing his thought while conceptualizing this program, Anoop Kumar Trivedi, Managing Director, Tata BlueScope Steel said, “Construction workers needed a platform to ensure they get the right training and know-how to become better professionals. Kawach Pro-Certification is one step towards empowering them to earn professional credentials, thus elevating the entire construction industry with world-class safety practices while demonstrating our commitment for quality.”
Speaking during the training session, Subodh Pandey, Vice President, Operations, Tata Steel Meramandalisaid, ‘This is a much-awaited step towards changing the mindset and culture in building and construction space to train the workforce with proper skillset.

Kawach Pro-Certificationtraining modules are curated by top industry professionals, which includes Training on Safe Construction Practices, Working at Heights and Critical handling, Mobile equipment operating techniques and risk management and Certification post assessment.
