Bhubaneswar: For the promotion of Odia language, literature and culture, the State Government has decided to set up a Technical Assistance and Support Unit (TASU) under Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department.

Bijaya Ketan Upadhyaya, Director Culture said that “Odisha is the bastion of rich cultural heritage with its historical monuments, archaeological sites, traditional arts, sculpture, dance, and music. From time immemorial Odisha has attracted a large number of scholars, artists, and tourists”.

“The Department of Culture now looks forward to the systematic and comprehensive promotion in the field of art and culture in the State and the Department aims at preserving the ancient cultural tradition and antiquities with the help of its subordinate offices and autonomous organization functioning under it, Dr.Upadhyaya said.

Therefore, the Department has decided to set up a Technical Assistance and Support Unit (TASU) which will support the government in strategic development, procurement, bid & contract management, provide technology advisory and IEC & cultural promotion.

Strategic development includes formulation of a comprehensive cultural policy and schemes to promote and preserve local heritage, language, and arts.

The unit will also evaluate current cultural programs and suggest improvements for greater impact and efficiency. It would also facilitate coordination with artists, scholars, cultural institutions, and community groups to strengthen cultural initiatives.

TASU is expected to undertake a detailed study of the existing systems and processes in Odia Language, Literature & Culture Department, the officials said.

Further, the proposed unit will undertake national and global best practices/studies for identified language, literature & culture and support the Department in high level technology design and identification of functional requirements of the solution.

The agency will also design, develop, create, and publish content on current and upcoming communication channels like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Emailers, Instagram, SMS, Telegram, WhatsApp etc.

It would also develop relatable content for the website of the Odia Language Literature & Culture Department.
