Talcher: A significant milestone for regional healthcare and medical education was reached today as the MBBS course officially began at Pabitra Mohan Pradhan Medical College & Hospital in Talcher. This new institution, built under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL), marks a major advancement in creating stronger, more accessible healthcare infrastructure for the local community.
MCL extended its best wishes to the first batch of MBBS students, encouraging them to pursue their journey with knowledge, compassion, and dedication in service to the nation.

This new institution, constructed under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) at a cost of ₹492 crore, marks a major advancement in creating stronger, more accessible healthcare infrastructure for the local community. MCL has also committed ₹628 crore for the management and operation of the facility for the first five years.
The college’s inaugural ceremony formally marked the opening and a hopeful beginning for the future. The event was graced by several key dignitaries, including Shri Ashok Kumar Dhal, General Manager, Jagannath Area of MCL; Shri Samir Kumar Jena, Sub-Collector, Talcher; Shri Madan Mohan Pradhan, CDMO; along with other senior officials and invited guests.
MCL General Manager Shri Dhal expressed his happiness over the opening of this facility of learning and health care.
