Seven-time MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain has been appointed as Pro-tem Speaker of State lEGISLATIVE Assembly. He is scheduled to take oath as Pro-time Speaker of the House tomorrow morning at Raj Bhawan.
After taking oath as Pro-tem Speaker, sHRI Swain will administer oaths to the newly elected MLAs on June 18 and 19 in the House. The election for the Speaker will be held on June 20.
Shri Swain has been elected to the Assembly for the highest time from Athagarh Assembly constituency.
Pro-tem Speaker is the temporary Speaker who presides over the first meeting of the House after the general elections besides presiding over the sitting in which the Speaker and Deputy Speaker are elected after a newly constituted House.
He will administer oath to the newly elected Legislators on 18-19 June. There are 147 Lawmakers in Odisha House.
In the recently concluded BJP won 78 seats while BJD secured 51 MLA seats, Congress at 14, CPI (M) one and three independent candidates won the poll.
