Bhubaneswar: Continuing its journey towards quality improvement and patient safety, SUM Ultimate Medicare (SUMUM) has added another feather to its cap when it received the Joint Commission International (JCI) Prime certification on Wednesday.
The certification program was organised in the hospital campus supported by leading medical technology company Becton, Dickinson and Co (BD). SUMUM is the first hospital in Odisha to receive the certification on the successful completion of the program and achieve 98.4 per cent compliance rate.
Dr. Swetapadma Dash, Chief Executive Officer of SUMUM, received the certificate on behalf of the hospital. Present at the program were consultants, nursing team members, pharmacy team members, heads of departments, and representatives from BD, including Dr. Pankaj Raina, its Medical Affairs Leader-India and South Asia.
The JCI Prime program was initiated in the hospital in 2022, with the infection control department, nursing team, pharmacy team, in-patient services team, and quality management system working collectively under the guidance and constant support of the top management.
The certification program was followed by an academic session on the topics of ‘Invasive Fungal Infection in ICU’ and ‘Infection Control Care Bundle’, which were addressed by Dr. Anand Mishra and Dr. Arun Rath, both Senior Consultants in Critical Care Medicine.
