Bhubaneswar: The National Informatics Centre (NIC) recently transformed Sai Anglo Regional Public School into a hub for environmental innovation during a “Best out of Waste” exhibition in Bhubaneswar. As part of the Swachhata Pakhwada observance, 180 students from Classes II to VIII demonstrated that the solution to our growing waste crisis lies in resourcefulness and a circular mindset.
By repurposing discarded materials into functional and artistic models, these young environmental stewards highlighted how reducing consumption and reusing items can significantly lower one’s ecological footprint. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, serves as a practical lesson in waste management, encouraging the next generation to view “trash” not as a nuisance, but as a potential resource.
The event focused heavily on long-term ecological responsibility. Beyond the physical models, participants committed to a collective pledge for a pollution-free India, acknowledging the urgent need for sustainable living practices. Senior Scientists from the NIC were present to mentor the students, bridging the gap between scientific sustainability goals and community action.
A Teachers’ Corner complemented the student displays, showcasing how educators can lead by example in the fight against climate change and environmental degradation. By involving parents and the wider community, the exhibition underscored the idea that protecting the planet is a collaborative effort that begins with creative thinking and local engagement.
