State On Aahaar Care

Bhubaneswar: In a proactive step to safeguard the uninterrupted functioning of the State’s flagship Aahaar programme, the Housing & Urban Development Department has issued comprehensive directives to streamline and secure the supply of cooking gas for Aahaar Kitchens across Odisha.

The Director of Municipal Administration, Sri Arindam Dakua, has communicated with all Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, and Presidents of District and City Aahaar Societies, emphasizing the need to reinforce the logistical backbone supporting the programme. At present, 170 Aahaar Kendras, supported by around 90 centralized kitchens, are serving affordable and nutritious meals to thousands of beneficiaries every day.

To ensure continuity in service delivery, local authorities have been instructed to undertake an immediate assessment of cooking gas availability within their jurisdictions and establish close coordination with gas suppliers, distributors, and other concerned agencies. The directive calls for timely and proactive interventions to prevent any disruption in meal preparation and distribution.

This strategic focus on strengthening last-mile logistics and inter-agency coordination reflects the State Government’s unwavering commitment to food security and urban welfare. By reinforcing operational resilience, the initiative aims to ensure that the Aahaar programme continues to deliver dependable and dignified service to all beneficiaries across Odisha.
