State Boosts Kickboxers

Bhubaneswar: Shri Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Secretary for the Sports & Youth Services Department, Government of Odisha, interacted with three of the state’s top kickboxing athletes—Suchismita Amanta, Pyari Khitish Sahoo, and Anshuman Dakua—to extend his best wishes for their upcoming international competition.

The athletes are set to represent India at the WAKO World Championship for Seniors & Masters, scheduled to take place from November 21st to 30th, 2025, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This marks the first time the prestigious championship will be held outside of Europe. The event is expected to draw approximately 2,000 athletes from 150 countries.

Shri Jadhav’s interaction with the kickboxers is the latest example of the Odisha government’s proactive approach to promoting sports and nurturing athletic talent.

Under his leadership, the state has been at the forefront of developing a comprehensive sports ecosystem, from grassroots-level talent scouting to hosting world-class international events.

Odisha has earned a reputation as a sporting powerhouse, with a strong focus on building state-of-the-art infrastructure and providing athletes with the necessary support to compete at the highest level.

The three athletes, representing Odisha and the nation, will be competing against the world’s best, and the meeting with the Sports Secretary serves as a significant morale booster ahead of their departure.

The state government’s consistent efforts in backing its athletes underscore its commitment to helping India achieve its sporting ambitions on the global stage. Sources
