Bhubaneswar: Ahead of 2024 elections, the State Cabinet on Wednesday decided to recommend the Government of India to include Saora language in the 8th schedule of Constitution of India.
The Cabinet headed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik recommended the proposal for Inclusion of the tribal language in the 8th schedule of Constitution of India, informed ST & SC Development Minister Jagannath Saraka. Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena was present in the briefing.
Inclusion of the Saora language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India will help in the preservation, promotion, propagation of the Saora language and culture, he said.
It will create an eco-system to facilitate research & studies anchored around preservation, promotion and propagation of the tribal language.
Besides, activities such as publication, creation of content and recognition will get momentum, Shri Saraka said.
More than five Lakh Saora speaking indigenous people will be benefited with this decision.
The Cabinet decision to recommend the inclusion of Saora language in the 8th schedule of the Constitution of India will have no financial implication, he added.
The State Cabinet has also decided for sanction of lease of land measuring Ac.6.30 in Ramachandrapur Mouza under Rayagada Tahasil, obtained on exchange of equal value of land from Ministry of Railways, Government of India, on free of premium and incidental charges basis in favour of the Maa Majhighariani Temple Management Trust for development of infrastructure, Saraka said.
However, Maa Majhighariani Temple Management Trust will have to pay the nominal annual ground rent of Rs. 100 per acre and annual cess @ 75% of the ground rent for such lease, he stated.
