Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has launched a strict enforcement drive against non-compliant commercial vehicles after discovering that both vehicles involved lacked valid fitness certificates.
Strict legal action will be initiated against violators under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act. Following the government directive, Transport Commissioner Shri Amitabh Thakur has officially issued necessary enforcement orders to the RTOs to execute the statewide inspection drive immediately.
Following a preliminary investigation into the tragic road accident at Baripada, Minister for Commerce and Transport, Shri Bibhuti Bhusan Jena, stated that the preliminary probe confirmed neither vehicle possessed the mandatory legal clearance.
Viewing the violation with absolute seriousness, the Minister has directed the immediate cancellation of the registration certificates for both vehicles involved in the mishap.
Emphasizing that public safety and saving human lives remain the topmost priority of the State Government, Minister Shri Jena ordered a blanket ban on the operations of any commercial vehicles running without up-to-date fitness certificates, insurance, and valid permits.
To ensure complete compliance on the ground, all Regional Transport Officers and Additional Regional Transport Officers across the state have been instructed to intensify vehicle checking and monitoring. Strict legal action will be initiated against violators under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
