Bhubaneswar: Satyabrata Sahu, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Home, Forest, Environment and Climate Change has said the community is showing increasing interest in clean air.
State Pollution Control Board in collaboration with Centre for Environment Studies (CES) have organized the Cycle Rally to campaign for Public Participation towards improving air quality.
Addressing the gathering ACS DoFE&CC, Shri Sahu said that accordingly the State Government is making all out efforts for combating air pollution at large.
He said Corroborating with interest and demand from community at large and emphasizing the need to make further efforts to improve air quality to protect human health, Odisha Government in Department of Forest, Environment and Climate Change is taking steps in this regard.
Shri Sahu was talking to Media, while inaugurating a Cycle Rally organized by State Pollution Control Board, Odisha on 8 September to celebrate International Day of Clean air for the Blue Skies.
An ace nature lover Shri Sahu joined hands with a genuine environmentalist Dr.K Murugesan, Member Secretary State Pollution Control Board while participating with 200 Plus cyclists for generation of awareness on improving air quality in and around the Capital Region.
The Cycle Rally covered 5 Kilometers distance starting from Forest Park to Nilakantha Nagar, the State Headquarters of Odisha State Pollution Control Board.
Dr.Murugesan said State Pollution Control Board has organized the Cycle Rally highlighting the importance of International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies.
Member Secretary SPCB said that this year theme is Invest In Clean Air Now. And the role of individuals in improving the air quality is foremost in the mind of the State Government and State Pollution Control Board.
During the rally cyclists chanted sensitizing slogans on air pollution control were displayed using the banners and placards for information of general public.
People at large and citizens showed lot of interest and cyclists were happy over peoples’ positive reaction on the efforts of Odisha State Pollution Control Board to combat air pollution in a determined way.
