Bhubaneswar: The 4-day Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 3rd International Conference on ‘Sustainable Energy and Future Electric Transportation’ (SeFeT-2023) held at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) here concluded on Saturday.
The conference was attended by around 500 engineers, researchers, scientists and academicians from across the world who presented their work, shared experiences and ideas in several areas in the realms of electrical and electronics.
The valedictory program of the conference was graced by Prof. Amiya Kumar Rath, Vice-Chancellor of the Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) who said such events boosted the confidence of students to launch their own start-up while encouraging faculty members to take up research activities.
Prof. Rath expressed satisfaction that SOA had taken up research as its thrust area while the university had received good positions from National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and QS ranking.
SOA Vice-Chancellor Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, who presided over the program, said such conferences greatly helped and boosted the confidence of researchers. There is a need for more such conferences, he said.
Dr. Vinod Khadkikar, Professor and IEEE Fellow from Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi, UAE, who attended as the guest of honour, also praised SOA for organizing such a conference.
Dr. Khadkikar said while the first edition of the conference was held on-line and the second conducted in hybrid mode, the third edition was held at SOA. The next edition of the conference will be held at Hyderabad from July 31 to August 3 next year, he announced.
Prof. Renu Sharma, General Chair for SeFeT-2023 and Additional Dean (Student Affairs) of Institute of Technical Education and Research, faculty of engineering of SOA, also addressed the valedictory session. She said the research papers received for the conference would be published in IEEE Xplore. Several authors of the research papers were felicitated on the occasion.
Dr. Akhyay Kumar Rathore, IEEE Fellow and Professor and Program Leader at Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore, was also present.
The subjects discussed during the four days included renewable energy, electric transportation, power electronics, electric drives, control techniques, smart grids, communication protocols, intelligent charging infrastructure and standards.
Participants from several countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, the Netherlands, Taiwan, Qatar and Thailand attended the conference.
