Snow & Safety: Shah Secures

New Delhi: Amidst a historic surge in winter tourism and heavy snowfall across the Kashmir Valley, Union Home Minister Amit Shah presided over a high-level security review meeting today to consolidate the region’s transition toward enduring stability.

Addressing a delegation that included Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha and top security brass, the Home Minister articulated a mandate of moral urgency: the total dismantling of the terror ecosystem to safeguard the socio-economic aspirations of the people.

The timing of the review is underscored by a vivid systemic synthesis of security and prosperity. Even as senior officers discussed mission-mode Counter Terror operations, the streets of Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg echoed with the voices of thousands of tourists.

Recent data indicates that hotel occupancy has reached near-peak levels, driven by a seasonal “white healer”—the heavy January snow that has transformed the landscape into a pristine sanctuary for domestic and international visitors alike.

Shri Shah emphasized that the “zero tolerance” policy is not merely a tactical stance but a socio-legal commitment to the post-Article 370 era.

He noted that the coordinated efforts of the government have effectively crippled the terror infrastructure, yet he warned against complacency. With layered causality at play—where security directly fuels the revival of the tourism-dependent economy—the Home Minister directed agencies to work in seamless synergy.

This vigilance is particularly critical as tourists flock to high-altitude destinations like Bhaderwah and Guldanda, seeking the fairytale-like experience of the season’s first snowfall.

During the session, the Home Minister appreciated the relentless efforts of the security forces in maintaining a robust security scenario, which has rebuilt public confidence following past disruptions.

He assured that all necessary resources would be mobilized to achieve the goal of a “terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.” By prioritizing the elimination of terror financing and infrastructure, the administration aims to ensure that the current influx of visitors—witnessing the beauty of the Union Territory without fear—becomes the permanent hallmark of the region.

The meeting concluded with a directive to sustain the gains achieved over recent years, ensuring that the tranquility currently enjoyed by skiing enthusiasts and families in the snow-clad meadows is never again compromised by the shadows of the past.
